Sam Cooksey

Duke of Texas XXXIII, Sam Cooksey, was born in Peoria, Illinois.  He entered Northwestern State University in 1965 and later met his wife, Queen Gemini XXIX, Sue Cooksey.  They have been married 51 years, have three children, and five grandchildren.  Sam and Sue moved to Shreveport in 1971 after having graduated from NSU, married in 1970, and after, Sam proudly served a tour in Vietnam.

Sam is retires after 30 years in the industrial sales industry and is enjoying his retirement status.  He has been a member of the Krewe of Gemini since 1998.  During his years in the Krewe of Gemini, he has served as Parade Co-Captain for two years in 2002-2004 and was also a Float Lieutenant for the Title Float.  Sam has enjoyed the many friendships made wtih Krewe members during the past 20 plus years in the Krewe.  Sam also enjoys LSU and Saints football, playing golf, riding motorcycles, and recently, enjoying boating.  After having to sit silent for a year, Sam is eager to represent the Krewe of Gemini as the Duke of Texas,  He is excited and honored to serve as a member of the Royal Court of Gemini XXXIII.
