Captain's Message

Merry Christmas Bad Boys!
Don't expect too much from Santa carrying a theme like "The Bad Boys of Gemini," but not to worry, the fun ahead will far outweigh whatever Santa had in his sleigh my Bad Boys.
December's Cocktails with the Captain was held at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant in the Mardi Gras room on December 9th, a special thanks to our host for the spread of appetizers including their infamous crab claws, it was good food and fun for all who attended. Watch your email for our next CWC set for the 4th of January. We will meet at AlBasha Greek Restaurant located at 8905 Mansfield Road in Shreveport starting around 5:00 PM.
Our annual Christmas general meeting was held on December 12th and as customary we picked two charities to contribute to this year, the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank and the U.S. Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" Foundation. I am so proud of our membership and the outpouring of generosity shown by those who were in attendance. We truly have incredible generous members within our Krewe.
Lucinda Chisman, Development Coordinator for the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank attended our general meeting and her response to those who participated was "thank you so much for your diligence to "give back" to those in need...your Krewe collected 518 lbs of food and donated $408.75 in cash to the Food Bank. In addition, SSgt Juan Arias was one of three representatives in attendance for the Toy for Tots Foundation and again was overwhelmed with the generosity of our members. The stage was loaded with toys from one end to the other. A special thank you to Michelle Baker for coordinating our December meeting, setting up our charities and extending invitations to all media outlets, as a result Maggie Martin with the times was in attendance as well as KTAL Channel 6 who responded to our invitation and covered our acts of charity on their evening news cast.
Just around the corner is our 12th night celebration on the 7th of January. We will start the day with a 9:00 AM Mardi Gras Mass at St. Pius Catholic Church located at 4300 North Market in Shreveport. Followed by a night of fun at the Bossier Civic Center, doors open at 6:30, music will be provided by Take 2. Tickets are $40.00 a person and you must have a ticket to enter, if you lose your ticket you will have to purchase another one, so boys give your ticket to your girl for safe keeping. For ticket information call Mary Louise Stansell 218-2865.
And finally, a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year to you and yours from your Captain...
